Saw Palmetto Extract
Saw Palmetto is a tiny species of palm, native to the Southeastern United States, especially focused in Florida and some surrounding areas. Since they generally grow , the crops usually reach between five and six feet in height, reaching around fifteen feet over the infrequent occasions they grow vertical. Saw palmetto plants may live for several decades, with the earliest plants in Florida anticipated to be between 500 and 700 years of age. Saw palmetto grows in sandy soil, making fruits during the summer months and to October. The fruit is bluish-black when completely ripe. It’s a distinctive sweet odor, with a flavor that’s called somewhat sterile and acrid.

The saw palmetto berries have been used as a food supply and overall rule for Native Americans in Florida, and were consumed by early American settlers so as to stave off starvation. American botanist John Lloyd was among the first to notice the positive effects the fruit needed on grazing animals, concluding that it might help humans too. The herb dropped from favor in the 1950’s as science couldn’t account for the observed action of their berries.
